Mariposa Beach, Ontario

Mariposa Beach is an unincorporated settlement in the Canadian province of Ontario near Orillia in Ramara Township. It no longer appears on the standard provincial highway maps.

Stephen Leacock’s Mariposa, a fictionalized version of Orillia from Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, and the Mariposa Folk Festival named after the latter, have completely supplanted the original meaning of what was a real place.
