There were a total of 2,556 students enrolled in the Marion County School District during the 2005-2006 school year. The gender makeup of the district was 47% female and 53% male. The racial makeup of the district was 45% African American, 54% White, 1% Hispanic, and less than 1% Asian and Native American.[1]
