"Mario's Magic Carpet" is the fourth animated episode of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!.
Mario's Magic Carpet Mario and Co are traveling through a desert, dying of thirst. Thanks to a booby-trap, they wind up in the palace of Sultan Pasbah, who tries to force Princess into his harem, while the guys are sent to the dungeon. Through total fate, the Marios discover a magic lamp. However, it contains a grouchy genie who apparently offers no help in getting Princess back from the sultan, or from Koopa, who just showed up to purchase her.
[edit] Trivia/Goofs
- This episode parodies the story of Aladdin.
- Animated debut of Pidgit.
- Was Aired in Yahooligans TV on March 15, 2004
- Although the featured Song is Magic Carpet Ride by Steppenwolf, this song was later replaced by an instumental version of the song "When The Koopas Paint the Town" from the SMB3 episode True Colors.
This episode's Plumber's Log entry: #4-37
- On the cover of the VHS tape they show Mario, Luigi, and Toad on a magic carpet that they never ride, with a genie that looks completely different than the one in the episode.
- In this episode, we learn that Luigi can speak Pidgit Language.
- The bottom of Koopa's carpet is supposed to be completely navy blue. However, when Princess falls through the trap door, the door is yellow for that one shot.
- Once Koopa shows up, the lower half of the Sultan's body disappears for a few shots.
- In this episode, the Pidgits did not fly on Magic Carpets like they did in Super Mario Bros. 2. In addition, we learn that Pidgits eat carpeting.
- At some point when Koopa and Princess are flying in the magic carpet/car, Princess disappears for a split second.
- The official episode synopsis reads, "The Marios wage a wild magic carpet battle to save the Princess from being forced into King Koopa's harem." That contradicts the actual story, though. It was Sultan Pasbah who wanted to add Princess to his harem; Koopa just wanted to dump her in the quicksand.
- After Koopa throws Princess down the quicksand we see her sink down to the head in 6 seconds. Then there goes about 42 seconds until we see her again and then she of course should've been sunken down and dead but NO, she is not. She is higher up then (so much high up so we can see a little of her dress).
- Koopa orders for a dozen Pidgits, but only nine come.
- Marianne and Luigeena (Mario and Luigi's annoying female cousins) come over and flirt with Lyle Alzado.
