Marinism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Marinism, or Secentismo in Italian literally means 17th century and was a baroque creative style against classical. The style originated from the 17th-century poet Giambattista Marino, in part three of his play La lira, or The Lyre. (1614) Marinism used metaphors, hyperbole, word play, and myths, and often tried to shock the audience. The style also appeared in poetry. Marino also founded a poetic school of marinism.
