Mariinsk

Mariinsk (Russian: Марии́нск) is a town in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia, located on the Kiya River (Ob's basin) some 180 km northeast of Kemerovo. Population: 42,977 (2002 Census); 39,700 (1972).
The town of Mariinsk was founded in the 18th century as a village Kiyskoye. In 1856, it was granted town status and renamed to Mariinsk one year later. Mariinsk stands at the intersection of the Kiya River and Trans-Siberian Railway.
