Mariella Frostrup

Mariella Frostrup (born on November 12, 1962, in Oslo) is a journalist and television presenter, well known on British TV and radio for her mildly "throaty voice", which was voted as the sexiest voice for female TV celebrities in the UK only a few years ago in a special poll. Her voice is often used on TV commercials.
Born in the capital of Norway, she moved as a child to Kilmacanogue, a small village outside Dublin. Her Norwegian father was a journalist, and her Scottish-born mother an artist. In 1977, Mariella left Ireland to move to London.
She has interviewed many different celebrities, writers and other artists and has presented a variety of different TV programmes, including one on travel, and has appeared in other TV shows such as the series Have I Got News for You and the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous. She made several guest appearances as herself in the series Coupling including an episode where one of the characters fantasises about her, then meets her in person.
After her divorce from Richard Jobson, she dated Nick Allott (former husband of Anneka Rice). There were also rumours that she dated George Clooney but nothing has never been confirmed. however, she is one of his friends. She is friends with presenter Angus Deayton. She has two children and lives in London.
Frostrup is currently a presenter of BBC Radio 2 show, The Green Room, and also regularly presents Open Book (most Sundays and Thursdays) on Radio 4. She is widely viewed as having left-of-centre political views.
She writes for The Guardian, The Observer, The Mail on Sunday, Harpers & Queen and the New Statesman. She is also an art critic and has been on the judging panels for the Man Booker Prize, the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Evening Standard Film Awards.
