Marie Isobel, Countess Cathcart

Marie Isobel, Countess of Cathcart (born 18 June 1923) is a British countess.

She was educated at Les Oiseaux, Westgate on Sea, Kent and at Ware, Hertfordshire by the sisters of the FCJ.

She joined the Wrens as soon as she was old enough to do so in 1941 during World War II and has done voluntary work for various charities throughout her lifetime.

She married, firstly, Sir Thomas Brian Weldon (d. 1979) in 1942, by whom she had two children. She married, secondly, in 1984, Alan Cathcart, 6th Earl Cathcart (1919 - 1999) and by this marriage is styled Countess Cathcart.

Her stepson, Charles Alan Andrew Cathcart (b. 1952), is the current (7th) Earl Cathcart.

She belongs to the Dames of Malta and is also a Dame of the Venerable Order of St John.
