Marie-Simone Capony

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marie-Simone Capony (born March 14, 1894) is, at age 113, currently the oldest living person in France. She became their doyenne following the passing of 114-year-old Camille Loiseau in August 2006. Since 28 or 29 January 2007, she ranks 9th-oldest in the world. She was born in Charlieu (Loire), and currently lives in a retirement facility in Cannes. Marie-Simone never married (her fiancé was killed in action at the beginning of the First World War in 1914). Miss Capony hasn't been able to walk since she turned 100, after having been operated in order to fix a broken thighbone, but she still remains in fairly good health considering her very advanced age.
