[edit] Coaching

His coaching career started with the youth of Real Madrid. From there he progressed to coach the first teams of Real Madrid Castilla (1992-93), where he preceded his assistant coach Rafael Benitez, Sporting Gijón (1993-1995, 62 matches, 1st division), Albacete Balompié (1996-97), UD Las Palmas (1997-98), UD Salamanca (1999-2000), CD Numancia (2000-01, 21 matches, 1st division) and Córdoba CF (2001-02). Both of his appointments with first division clubs ended prematurely, when the teams were in a relegation position.

In 2004/05 he became assistant coach to the newly appointed Real Madrid coach Jose Antonio Camacho, with whom he also played together for the club in earlier years.

On 20 September 2004 he succeeded Camacho, who resigned his post just a few weeks into his appointment after match day four when the team was on 8th place. Remón himself was sacked due to perceived lack of success by Christmas and replaced with the former coach of the Brazilian national team Vanderlei Luxemburgo. The team then was on 3rd position. In La Liga he then had a record of 7 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses.
