Maria de Lourdes Dieck-Assad

In 1985, Dr. Dieck-Assad earned her Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Texas at Austin.

Currently Dr. Dieck-Assad is a member of President Vicente Fox's Cabinet as the Mexican Ambassador to the European Union. Previously, she worked at the ITESM as a professor. Also, she was the Dean for the Ph.D. in Management program at EGADE, the ITESM's Business Graduate School. Between 2002 and 2003 she was Chief of the Staff of the Minister of the Economy of Mexico. After that, she was named Chief of the Staff of the Minister of Foreign affairs of Mexico. In April 2003, she was appointed by President Vicente Fox as Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs for Economic Relations and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Dieck-Assad was the Head of the Economics Department at Trinity College (now known as Trinity University) in Washington, D.C. She worked as a consultant for the World Bank, Bancomer Banking Group, and for Nuevo León State Government.

Her most recent contribution was her participation in the book "Macroeconomia con Aplicaciones a Mexico" (2001) originally written by the Nobel Prize winner Paul Samuelson.
