Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio

Maria Teresa Fumarola Ligorio (December 2, 1889 - May 14, 2003) was the first resident of Italy to reach the verified age of 113, and remained the national longevity recordholder until June 6, 2005, when she was superseded by Virginia Dighero-Zolezzi.
Born in San Marzano di San Giuseppe, Taranto, Puglia, she married Donato Ligorio, and had ten children.
She died in Fragagnano, a small town near Taranto. At the time of her death she was the oldest living European resident.
