Maria Riesch

Maria Riesch (born November 24, 1984 in Garmisch-Partenkichen, Germany) is a German alpine skier. With a height of 1.81 metres, she is one of the tallest women on the alpine skiing circuit. Her younger sister, Susanne, is also a pro skier.
After the end of both Martina Ertl-Renz's and Hilde Gerg's careers, Riesch took over the leadership of the German national alpine skiing team. Her most successful season to date was in 2004, when she came 3rd overall in the 2004 Alpine Skiing World Cup, with 3 individual race victories. In the 2007 season she came first in a Downhill race at Lake Louise, Canada.
