Maria Mavroudi

Fluent in both classical Greek and Arabic, Dr. Maria Mavroudi is a history professor at University of California, Berkeley. After earning her Philology degree from the University of Thessaloniki in Greece, Dr. Mavroudi earned her PhD in Byzantine Studies from Harvard University.

She is a recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship, author of A Byzantine Book on Dream Interpretation: The Oneirocriticon of Achmet and Its Arabic Sources, and researches the recycling of the ancient tradition between Byzantium and Islam; Byzantine intellectual history; survival and transformation of Byzantine culture after 1453, along with other various topics.
