Maria Chapdelaine

Maria Chapdelaine is a novel by the French writer Louis Hémon first published in 1914 about a woman in Péribonka, Quebec who must choose which man she should marry.

There have been three film adaptations, one in 1934 directed by Julian Duvivier, one in 1950, and a Canadian production in 1983 starring Carole Laure.
