Margie Gillis

Margie Gillis (born July 9, 1953) is a Canadian solo dancer and choreographer.
Born in Montreal, Quebec, the daughter of the late Gene Gillis, an Olympic skier, and Rhona Wurtele, a Canadian Olympic skier who competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics along with her twin sister, Rhoda. Her brother, Jere Gillis, played professional hockey from 1977 to 1987 for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Quebec Nordiques, Buffalo Sabres, and the Philadelphia Flyers. Her other brother, Christopher Gillis, was a professional dancer and choreographer who died of AIDS in 1993.
She was the first performer to take modern dance to China in 1979.
In 1987, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada.
