Margareta Arvidsson is the 1966 Miss Universe. Born in Vänersborg, raised in Göteborg. She is the second Swedish beauty to hold the crown, 11 years after Hillevi Rombin.

She also won the Miss Photogenic title.

It is not a secret that Margareta did not want to win the pageant. She told the American producers at the Miss Universe pageant before the contest that she was homesick, tired and ´´want to go home´´. Her first comment after the crowning was ´´I won't do it! I won't!´´. Her first runner-up, Miss Finland, Satu Östring replied: ´´Don't cry Margareta! I could wear the crown instead of you!´´.

After her reign as Miss Universe, Margareta became a fashion model for the Ford Modeling Agency and went on to appear on stage in and in film.

In March 1999, she was a guest of honor at the 50th Anniversary of the Miss Sweden Pageant.
