Margaret Haddix

Margaret Peterson Haddix was born April in Washington Court House, Ohio and is an author of teen and adult thriller/futuristic science fiction.

In her childhood she lived on a farm near Washington Court House, Ohio. Now she is married and has two children, Meredith and Connor. She received a B.A. in creative writing and [journalism] from [Miami University] in [1986].

She has written a number of books, including Running Out of Time, Don't You Dare Read This Mrs. Dunphrey , Just Ella, the Shadow Children series, and Leaving Fishers. Haddix originally wrote primarily realistic fiction, but has recently begun writing science fiction. Double Identity and Turnabout, for example, are science fiction novels, and the speculative fiction novel Running Out of Time, speculates about societal changes which have not taken place. When the 2004 movie The Village was released it was noticed that the film had a striking resemblance to "Running Out of Time". Margaret Peterson Haddix's publisher considered legal action against Disney and M. Night Shyamalan, the film's writer/director.[1]

Her "Shadow Children" series is set in a society that only allows two children per couple. The series includes the works Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free.
