Margaret Fiedler

Margaret Fiedler is a London-based American vocalist, DJ and guitarist, known best for her role as a founding member of Laika. Margaret and John Frenett left their previous band Moonshake in 1993 to form Laika. Trained as a cellist, Margaret grew up in Illinois and Connecticut, and received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, NY, in 1989. In 2005, Fiedler attended The College of Law of England and Wales, based in Bloomsbury, London in order to gain a law degree with the aim of practicing media (specifically music-related) law. Fiedler graduate from this accelerated law program in 2006 with a Graduate Diploma in Law (LLB pending), and achieved an overall Commendation (the equivalent of a 2:1 or A-) for her academic achievements.
Prior to her settling in England and joining Moonshake, Fiedler had short stints in various New York indie / underground acts including a playing in a band with Moby and Kurt Ralske ( Ultra Vivid Scene ). Together with fellow founder member and renowned producer / engineer Guy Fixsen, Fiedler has released four albums and five singles with Laika and has also played lead guitar, cello, keyboards, backing vocals and percussion with P J Harvey on her 2000-2001 "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea" world tour.
