Marcus Valerius Messala Corvinus (consul 58)

Marcus Valerius Messalla Corvinus was the oldest son of Domitia Lepida and Marcus Valerius Messalla Barbatus. Marcus was the brother of Empress Valeria Messalina and half-brother of Faustus Cornelius Sulla Felix; uncle to Claudia Octavia and Britannicus; brother-in-law and second cousin to Emperor Claudius; second cousin to Emperor Caligula and first cousin to Emperor Nero. Marcus was consul in 58. During his consulship, the senate paid a him half a million sesterces to support himself.
