The Marcus Corporation (NYSE: MCS)is a publicly held company with two divisions, Marcus Theatres and Marcus Hotels and Resorts. Stephen H. Marcus, son of the company's founder, is chairman and chief executive officer.
Marcus Theatres currently owns or manages about 500 screens at 46 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Ohio, and one family entertainment center in Wisconsin. The company serves moviegoers in major markets including Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin, the Twin Cities, the greater Chicago area, and Columbus, Ohio.
Marcus Hotels and Resorts, currently owns or manages 11 hotels and resorts in Wisconsin, California, Minnesota, Missouri and Texas, and one vacation club in Wisconsin. These include the Pfister Hotel and Hilton Milwaukee City Center in Milwaukee; the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; the Hilton Madison at Monona Terrace in Madison, Wisconsin; and the Hotel Phillips in Kansas City, Missouri.
The Marcus Corporation was founded by Ben Marcus in 1935 when he opened a movie theatre in Ripon, Wisconsin. Today, the company prides itself on its customer service, using the motto "People Pleasing People".
