Marco Enrico Bossi

Marco Enrico Bossi (25 April 1861 – 20 February 1925, at sea) was an Italian organist and composer.

Bossi was born in Salò, province of Brescia.

He was Director of the Musical High School (Liceo Musicale) of Venice from 1895 to 1902, of Bologna from 1902 to 1911, and of Rome from 1916 to 1925. He died at sea while returning to Italy from New York. His pupils included Gian Francesco Malipiero.

Very numerous, Bossi's compositions include an Organ Concerto (Op. 100) and the Fantasia sinfonica (Op. 147). He also wrote five operas, other orchestral works, and some choral music, including a Requiem (Op. 83) and the oratorio Giovanna d'Arco (Op. 135). Today his output remains largely unperformed, save for a handful of solo organ pieces that still turn up sometimes at concerts and on radio.
