Marciano Cantero (born August 25, 1960 in Mendoza) is an Argentine singer and musician. He is the leading singer of Los Enanitos Verdes, a famous Spanish rock band in Latin America.
Cantero was nine when he first heard The Beatles, which he credits as one of his most important influences in his music. Cantero bought a Bass Guitar that was on special sale with his savings, and started to practice with the instrument, helped by his older brother.
After graduating high school, his father would buy him a brand new bass guitar. He also started attending concerts in the underground circuit during the military government of Argentina.
In 1979, he joined Felipe Statli and Daniel Piccolo to form Los Enanitos Verdes ("The green dwarfs"); they struggled at first, but eventually became idols in Mendoza. They later moved to Buenos Aires, where they would also struggle performing in bars and clubs before recording their first album. After a label change, the Enanitos began their internationalization with CBS Argentina (CBS) and became famous around Latin America.
After the dissolution of the band in 1990, Cantero started his solo career, recording Luna Nueva (1990) and Beat Club (1991). The Enanitos Verdes still gather for occasional concerts.
After 1990, the Enanitos Verdes came back and they recently brought a new album and are working on touring the USA.
He currently lives in Hermosillo, Mexico[citation needed].
