Marci Bowers

Marci L. Bowers is an American gynecologist who used to practice in Seattle at the PolyClinic. She currently operates a surgical practice in Trinidad, Colorado.

In 2003, Stanley Biber retired. She took over Biber's practice after his retirement, and has performed vaginoplasty surgeries since July 2003 in the same facility that made Biber in Trinidad, Colorado, making the city famous as the so-called vaginoplasty capital of the world.

Bowers is also a transsexual woman herself. She transitioned in 1997 and 1998 at the approximate age of 40. Many of her transsexual patients say they have selected her largely for that reason^{[citation needed]}, but many of them also like the fact that she is a gynecologist^{[citation needed]}. Bowers also routinely delivers babies and performs other gynecological services, including cosmetic gynecology surgical procedures^{[citation needed]} (need reference to citation).

Bowers graduated from the University of Minnesota medical school in 1986, where she was president of both her class and the entire student body. Beginning in 1986 she has practiced gynecology in Seattle. Since 2003, she has moved her practice to Trinidad, Colorado where she relocated when the town expressed a need for a gynecologist. In 2003, she was voted to be among "America's Best Doctors" by the American Research Council^{[citation needed]}.

In 2004, Bowers appeared in an episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation entitled "Ch-ch-changes", which focused on transsexuality. Bowers also served as a consultant for the episode, which co-featured Calpernia Addams and several other transsexual women.
