Marcel Kars

Marcel Kars (born April 20, 1977 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Dutch-Canadian professional ice hockey player, currently playing centre for the Newcastle North Stars of the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Kars was born and raised in Toronto, the son of Dutch immigrants. He spent one year with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League before going on to play four years of collegiate hockey for the University of Guelph.

He spent three seasons (2002-03 through to 2004-05) in the Netherlands, the country of his ancestry, playing first for the Amsterdam Tigers and then the Amsterdam Bulldogs before joining the North Stars in Australia in 2006.

Kars also represents the Netherlands in international competition. He is expected to be part of that country's 2007 World Championships campaign.
