Born in Montreal, Quebec, Gauthier had his pro-wrestling debut in the 1940s in the Canadian National Wrestling Alliance where he became known as The Little Atlas of the Wrestling World, and held the title of NWA World Midget Champion. He stood 42 inches tall and weighed 86 pounds.

He performed widely in Canada, and his career included performances against Little Beaver for Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and King Farouk of Egypt.

During the Second World War he served fixing rivets in the tails of bomber aircraft, a job at which he excelled, being able to maneuver in tight spaces.
