Marathon Watch Company
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Marathon Watch Company manufactures and supplies watches to government and military entities. Most Marathon watch models contain self-luminous tritium tubes for reading ease in night conditions. The company manufactures its watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Marathon Watches are typically not available to the general public, but may be obtained through surplus re-sellers.
The company has garnered a substantial following among watch afficonados for its high-performance diving watch--officially designated by the number 6645-21-558-0133 and informally known as the Marathon SAR (Search and Rescue)-- which was commissioned by the Canadian Navy for its search and rescue teams. [1][2] Other models include the Navigator, intended for pilots and paratroopers, and a General Purpose variant for military and law enforcement field use.
