Wikipedia:Maps from Ordnance Survey

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This proposal was rejected by the community. It has not gained consensus and seems unlikely to do so. Per Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines: "consensus support is not present...whether there is active discussion or not."

We are allowed to copy ten maps from the Ordnance Survey Get-a-map service and place them on Wikipedia. Please ensure that any map so copied is given a copyright tag of {{Ordnance Survey Copyright}}. There is the possibility of removing one map and replacing it with another.

[edit] Usage

I propose usage primarily in Ordnance Survey, or another page to illustrate aspects of the maps rather than each individual town or city. Dunc_Harris| 23:12, 9 Sep 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Linkage

Instead of including an OS map we can link to the OS Get-a-map service using templates such as {{gbmapping}} or {{gbmappingsmall}}. (Apparently we can do this an unlimited amount of times - even though it costs them more bandwidth than if we copied the map once.)
