Maple butter

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Maple butter is a confection that is made from maple syrup, by cooking, cooling, and whipping it until it reaches a smooth consistency. It is sometimes used as a spread instead of butter, or as a frosting. Cinnamon is sometimes added to create "maple cinnamon butter". It takes about 160 gallons of sap to make 1 gallon of maple butter.

The recipe above would yield a product called "maple cream" but the actual blending of maple syrup with butter would yield "maple butter".
