[edit] VfD for Michael Keating
I have removed the VfD notice from this article because the nomination was not completed (no VfD sub-page has been created, and the sub-page has not been likned to today's VfD page) and your edit history indicates you may have moved on to other tasks. If you still wish to list this article for deletion, please place the natice back on the article and follow the rest of the instructions for nomination as given at the bottom of WP:VFD. --Allen3 talk 11:49, July 11, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vandal
If you have reason to believe that an IP address is being used for vandalism, please report it to Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress. This will provide an alert to the portion of the admin community that deals directly with vandalism. After verifying your information, the IP address can then be blocked from further edits for a period of time. --Allen3 talk 11:35, July 13, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] About my change, "Leader of Opposition"
I agree that the post of Leader of opposition is not, per se, a government post. But it is a post which comes with a cabinet rank. Even so, I'll make changes to the article and move the part about LOO to a different sub-heading.
Thanks for the message. :)

[edit] 2005 IISC Bangalore shooting move
Hi, This is with reference to your redirect at December 2005 IISc shooting to 2005 IISC Bangalore shooting, which I have reverted. Firstly, IISc is the correct case, since 'c' is the second letter in Science and is also used as such at IISc's website]. Secondly, when you do a move, you should use the move tab at the top of the page rather than the cut and paste you have used. This ensures, the page history is preserved, the talk page is moved and a redirect will be automatically created. And it is also a major headache to merge the page histories of the two articles. See Help:Moving a page for more details. I have reverted the move now. I will leave the merge for you now. :-D BTW, Have a happy new year and feel free to ask me any doubts/queries. --Pamri • Talk 08:05, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, From checking your Special:Contributions/Manikraina, you seemed to have created 2/3 instances of the same article. I have fixed them to redirect all of them to December 2005 IISc shooting to 2005 IISC Bangalore shooting. Please read the instructions linked from the Welcome message above. --Pamri • Talk 08:59, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
Manik, thanks for your note. It cleared up a lot of things about this moving business. :-) I am now able to roughly construct what has happened. Correct me if I am wrong. You created the article first at 2005 terrorist attack on iisc bangalore. Then you redirected it to 2005 Bangalore terrorist attack. Since your article was not linked from any other article (Bangalore, IISc, ITN or WP:INDIA) and a quick search didn't yield any results, I assumed no one had created any such article and created it at December 2005 IISc shooting. At this point, an anon redirected your version to mine. You then copy-pasted that article to 2005 IISC Bangalore shooting and redirected to the latter page. Which, as you know I reversed, since copy-paste moves are frowned upon and more importantly, I was not aware of your earlier edits.
I assure you, I would have taken a different approach to solve the problem if I was aware of these issues. On your part, you should have reverted the redirect by the anon user and added a merge notice to both the articles as per Wikipedia:Merging and moving pages and this problem wouldn't have arised. If it has not been merged already, you can still follow this procedure.
Ok, I will move the article to December 2005 IISc Bangalore shooting. The edit summary instructions come from a standard template ({{summary}}) thats added to all talk pages. So, thats not my wording.
Admin privileges basically enable access to some additional features of the software. But we still have to conform to the same policies, etc., just like every editor and we don't have the right to override them.
Don't be disheartened by the whole episode, which is inevitable in a large project like this. And basically, every admin or editor learns from making mistakes and you find some of the mistakes I committed, including not using edit summaries here. Thanks for the greetings and your understanding. --Pamri • Talk 13:40, 30 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Edit summary
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --Pamri • Talk 09:27, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman
Hi, I have noticed that you have added the Hindi spelling to the name. It may be unnecessary as we do not want his name spelt in all languages - interested editors would any way look at the interwiki in the edit mode. If it is not available there, you may want to check the hindi wikipedia for the title; if it is non-existent, you can at least create a stub there and add the interwiki link here. Also, it is unhelpful for a non-Indian unless you mention what language it is. Keep up the great work!! --Gurubrahma 12:24, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

- Since he was an indian, I assumed you should not have a problem with his name in Hindi. Manik Raina 13:47, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Plese reconsider your vote to merge Human rights in pre-Saddam Iraq
Hi Manik,
I've just put a lot of work into improving Human rights in pre-Saddam Iraq so that the article is not now anything like what it was when you voted to merge. I don't know that it meets your objections to it, but please take another look and see what you think. I'm still not satisfied with the article, but it has roughly the proper scope and many more reliable sources. I think what I've done shows that there's too much material out there to merge this article with anything else. Significant gaps remain and some subjects should have footnotes from more sources, but I think the article is several steps toward what it should be. Best, Noroton 22:19, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
