[Sh Manoj Kumar K] is Acting Director of INFLIBNET Centre, An IUC of University Grants Commission – the Apex body of the Universities across the country - with effect from ist Feb 2007. he was also holding the post from June 01, 2006 till 27th Nov 2007 and directly reporting to Chairman, UGC. Director of INFLIBNET Centre is having the status of Central university Vice-Chancellor’s post. INFLIBNET Centre has successfully executed two prestigious Project of National importance i.e. UGC-INFONET – providing connectivity to 149 universities and UGC-INFONET-E-JOURNAL Consortia providing 4400 plus electronic journals to Universities.
He has joined the centre in 2004. He has more than 14 years of wide experience in Information and Technology which includes more than 5 Years service in Indian Institute of Management of Kozhikode (IIMK) in multi layered architecture with File servers, Database servers, Web server, FTP server, Email server and other high-end servers/computers. Prior to joining IIM, he was working as Asst Engineer in CEDTI, Calicut and as Systems Officer in Coal Indian Ltd, Ranchi, Bihar. He is also responsible for development of various library related software packages, setting up of networking facilities, advising and assisting libraries in computerization process, training the library professionals in use of computers etc. The Centre has successfully developed a Library Management Software popularly known as SOUL (Software for University Library) and it has got more than 1123 installations across the country. Center has also developed database of bibliographic records of the university collections to the tune of 74 Lakhs records.
In addition, he is also looking after modernization of Jammu & Kashmir and North Eastern Region college libraries. Under the initiative of Hon’ble Prime Minister, he has actively associated and executed the prestigious automation programme of J&K and North-East Colleges. He is also an invited speaker/expert at premier institutes in India; like IITs, IIMs, CSIR labs, NITs, BITS, UGC, CEC, 20 Universities, DRTC, IISR, ICSSR etc.
