Talk:Management by observation

I am not yet satisfied with this article. It still needs more references. Perhaps this could be combined with Management by objectives article? Yaz 08:00, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Videos about management and decision making

I am not sure if Bud Ham's podcast is suitable for this article. Perhaps there is another article that is better? He talks more broad subject than Management by observation versus management by objectives. To me his talking about the authoritarian early industrial revolution era management style where the manager was telling workers WHAT to do, WHEN to do it, and HOW to do it. Now how can we connect that to management by observation?

My approach here is this: Bud Ham talks about levels of decision making. He gives example of a receptionist at doctor's office having to make decision on whether to take a patient at 4 o'clock or delay it for tomorrow versus having a team meeting to make this decision or asking the boss about this.

How he begins the podcast is interesting, how what are characteristics of good leaders, and how this has changed from time to time. Yaz 22:01, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
