Manuel Aeschlimann

Manuel Aeschlimann (born October 22, 1964 in Asnières-sur-Seine) is a French politician. He began his political career at the early age of 25, as a city councillor in Asnières sur Seine. He was appointed first maire-adjoint and went on to be elected Mayor of Asnières-sur-Seine in 1999 in the powerful département of les Hauts-de-Seine (92). He was elected deputy in the National Assembly in June 2002. He belongs to the right-wing party of the majority (UMP) at the French Assembly where he is part of the law commission. He has been appointed "personal adviser" of Nicolas Sarkozy after he has created and led a commission in charge of the public opinion. Many people consider him as Sarkozy's official spin doctor. He is also professor at Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po), specialist of the electoral strategy.
