Manu Mellaerts

Manu Mellaerts, belgian trumpet player, was a member of the Flemish Radio Orchestra and since 1986 he has been soloist at the Royal Munt Theatre in Brussels.

Mellaerts studied at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. He completed his trumpet studies with Pierre Thibaud in Paris, Roger Delmotte in Versailles and Edward Tarr in Basel.

In 1985 he was a laureate of the VRT Tenuto Contest and in 1987 of the International Trumpet Competition in Toulon. He made several CD-recordings, such as a special one of baroque and classical concertos with the Collegium Instrumentale Brugense and he has founded the Belgian Brass Soloists. As a conductor he has won several national and international championships.

Up to 1987 he was teaching at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven and since 1986 he has been teaching at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels. He also regularly gives master classes in his own country and abroad.
