Mantyke (タマンタ? Tamanta in original Japanese language versions) is a recently released fictional character in the Pokémon series of games and anime, debuting in Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea and Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS. It was released alongside Chatot and Buizel.

The English name Mantyke was first reported by a Pokémon fansite[1] and officially confirmed at the official Pokémon web site.[2] Its name is derived from the words “manta ray”, the animal which it (and its evolved form Mantine) is based on and “tyke”, referring to a young child, as Mantyke is the baby form of Mantine. Mantyke's Japanese name, Tamanta, may be derived from the Japanese word tama, meaning ball, which refers to the relatively spherical shape of Mantyke's body, and manta ray.

Mantyke directly resembles a miniature version of its evolved form, Mantine, as an underdeveloped manta ray with huge antennae, a vaguely spherical main body, and the lack of a tail. Mantyke also sports a pair of red and white circular markings and a curved white line on its back, together resembling a smiley face, which may be used to prevent attacks from predators. Mantyke’s entire body is a strong shade of blue in comparison to the body of its evolution. Mantyke’s feelers are used in a way similar to an actual manta’s, to push plankton into its mouth. It can evolve into a Mantine when it comes in contact with a Remoraid, the Pokemon which travels with a Mantine.

Mantyke is one of the many new Pokémon that appear in the Nintendo DS games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. It is obtained in the wild on Sea Route 223 and Nagisa City by surfing or by breeding Mantine holding a Wave Incense. Mantyke will only evolve into Mantine when there is a Remoraid in the player’s party, but the Remoraid will remain.

Mantyke has below avergage Hit Points, Speed, Attack, Defense, and Special Attack. Mantyke's Special Defense is very high. Mantyke can learn moves such as Water Pulse and Surf, and new moves such as Aqua Ring, which restores HP every turn. It can also learn Signal Beam and Mirror Coat through breeding. It can also learn Earthquake to help with its weakness against Electric types, though it can not use it very effectively due to its poor Attack.

Mantyke is one of 4th Generation Pokémon that made an appearance in the 9th movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.
