Mansudae Overseas Projects
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mansudae Overseas Projects is a construction company from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
In Namibia Mansudae Overseas Projects has designed two major projects:
- Heroe's Acre (inaugurated August 2002) with a statue of the unknown soldier (portrait of ex-president Sam Nujoma) near Windhoek
- The New State House (under construction since 2002) on a 40.4 ha site in Windhoek
Both projects are built by people from Korea and the costs of the projects have caused a lot of discussion. Heroes' Acre has cost 8 million Euro (9.9 million U.S. dollars) and the New State House allegedly will cost around 60 million Euro (74.1 million U.S. dollars). In 2003 the government of Namibia has appealed to the international community to provide 33.7 million U.S. dollars (27.3 million Euro) for drought relief programmes.
Currently, Mansudae Overseas Projects is working on the Conclusion of the President Dr. Agostinho Neto Cultural Center in Luanda, Angola.
