[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

A jerk scientist (Benedict) sets up a program for using inmates as experiment subjects in turn for reducing their sentences. One convict, Ray (Jordan) with a particularly violent background joins the program and during a visit to the research facility, attempts to escape, moving through the facility and taking one young pretty female researcher hostage, and shooting her in the neck to convince Dr. Jennifer Allen (Musetta Vander) to open the door to the experiment room. Security guards follow him into the large room and start shooting, damaging expensive equipment and dangerous biohazard materials, causing an explosion which releases genetically altered mosquitoes designed to cure a horrid desease and showering Ray and Dr. Allen with chemicals they have been using on the mosquitoes in experiments. The convict, is more heavily sprayed and injured from the explosion but manages to flee the scene via the explosion's commotion. Dr. Allen caught a little bit of the chemical on her arm and returns home with her boyfriend, Lt. Tom Randall (Corin Nemec). She then takes a scratch at Tom while in bed to get some blood. After he leaves on a call, she runs to the bathroom and rips off her shirt to check her arm that caught some of the chemical to find it bleeding. She suddenly convulses and falls to the floor, in her underwear, with her skin bubbling and bleeding.
After he escapes, Ray's right arm, the area most heavily drenched with DNA altering liquid, morphs into a mosquito-like appendage. Then, still in his inmate garb, he finds his way to his former girlfriend's apartment. When the ex comes home, she finds her apartment in ruin and him visibly scarred and delirious from the accident. They have a short anxious conversation, she notices his deformed arm, and he starts crawling towards her begging for help in a wretched voice. All of a sudden his body completely metamorphosizes into a new human-mosquito hybrid within about 30 seconds. The girl is so terribly horrified by the spectacle, she falls to the couch screaming, only to see the new 'Mansquito' rise and stare at her with new intense compound eyes. Now with the Mosquito's DNA in completecontrol, Mansquito gets ontop of heron the couch and drains her of her blood. Tom arrives later to investagate but is puzzled by the manner in which she died. Later Mansquito sucks a bunch of people at a bar dry then moves onto a tunnel under a drain pipe inhabited by homeless people which fall victim to him. Tom is called to investigate only to discover even more victims and Ray's monsterus transformation. He trys to shoot the creature but the shots do nothing to it but a shock from a stun gun causes Mansquito to flee in pain. His follow oficer doesn't believe him at first but puts a bulletin out on the creature. Meanwhile Jennifer discovers the awful truth that she too is changing into a Mansquito only slower as she only got a small amount. The Mansquito appears but doesn't try to kill her, she faints and the monster leaves. Tom takes Jennifer to a doctor as the Mansquito watches on. Tom talks to his girlfriend at the hospital who reveals why the creature came after her, he wants a mate and he needs her to transform. Tom puts cops everywhere and asks Jennifer how to kill Mansquito but she doesn't know. Outside a guard falls victim to the monster. Meanwhile Jennifer begs Tom to take her to the lab which he won't. Tom leaves to investagate the officer killed by Mansquito. Meanwhile Mansquito undergos another tranformation this time growing wings. Tom calls in a SWAT team with armor piercing rounds. Inside Jennifer begin changing again and alerts the officers to the arriavlof Mansquito. Mansquito breaks in and goes on a rampage. The SWAT team enters the building but bar Tom from entering. Mansquito attacks and wipes the SWAT team out as even the armor piercing round can't hurt him. Some guards try to stop him but are killed easily. Mansquito heads for Jennifer but is held off by Tom's partner who easily killed Jennifer gets away however. Tom heads to confront Mansquito as more and more cops fall before the unstoppable monster. Jennifer escapes the building but is having and increasingly hard time holding back the mosquito DNA and her thurst for blood. She steals a police transport. Tom rescues an injured cop and blows up some tanks behind Mansquito which causes a large explosion that he believes killed the creature. He is rescued by peramadics and although badly injured heads after Jennifer. Mansquito also surived and rises from the recage. Back at the lab Jennifer releases the last batch of genetically altered mosquitos which have been perfected. Tom arrives and Jennifer tells Tom Mansquito is still alive and she trys to kill herself to stop her own transformation from compleating saying without a mate Mansquito will die. Mansquito arives and fights Jennifer and Tom. Jennifer lures Mansquito into a tunnal, Tom follows. Even though she is not compleatly mutated Jennifer is still stronger than a human and attacks Mansquito. The two hybrids fight and Tom arives and uses the stun gun again which hurts the monster, seeing this JEnnifer takes an electric line and eletrocuits her and Mansquito finally putting an end to the monster's bloodfuled rampage but at the cost of her own life. Tom writes a report about it and the desease is wiped out.
