Mansfield State High School is a co-educational government secondary school located in Mansfield, a suburb in the south of Brisbane, Australia. Opened in 1974, the school in more recent years has become renowned for its excellence in music, and its French immersion program, though the school also has very high academic and sporting standards.

Mansfield's Music program is a strength of Mansfield, having:

  • 3 Concert Bands (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) - (Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Winds and Concert Band)
  • 3 Jazz Ensembles (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) - (Stage Band, Jazz Ensemble and Big Band)
  • 3 String Orchestras (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) - (String Orchestra, Museaus and Camerata)
  • 4 Choirs:
    • Two girls choirs (Cantrice and Cantus)
    • One male beginner choir (Male Chorus)
    • One full SATB choir (Chorale)
  • Two Percussion Ensembles
  • Orchestra
  • Chamber Winds
  • Jazz Combo

As well has having a large number of ensembles, and hundreds of participants, the standard of playing is also high. The main music group, Concert Band, has won the Queensland Festival of Music for several years, and all other top ensembles maintain an excellent standard of playing each year. The music program is run by Mrs Marg Overs,with fellow staff members including Marg Long and Glen Minto, and instrumental teachers including Lisa Blumsom,Kris Dutt, Jeff Jarret and Paul Mineely. Music camps are also run annually at Alexandra Headlands.

The school produces a musical once per year; taking about 5 to 6 weeks of rehearsals, commencing in the June/July holidays, before three performances in early August. It is directed by the deputy principal, Rowena May, and the band is conducted by the school principal, Murray Kay.

Past School Musicals include: Catwalk (2006), Pimpernel (2005), Sheik, Rattle and Roll (2004), Dirty Money (2003), Pan the Man (2002), Gumshoe (2001), Jungle Fantasy (1999) etc.

Mansfield has a high reputation for sport, with many teams making Metropolitan Finals and students representing Australia.

Mansfield, despite not having a diving program or swimming pool, has had 4 divers go through the school, now all representing Australia at the 2006 Commonwealth Games: Loudy Tourky (Bronze Medalist at Sydney), Matthew Mitcham, Sharleen Stratton (Gold Medalist) and Scott Robertson.

The school performs extremely well in national competitions, especially the Australian Mathematics Competition, in which two of its students received the highest prize in 2006.
