Manohla Dargis

Manohla Dargis (born c. 1961) is one of the chief film critics for The New York Times. She was formerly a film writer at the Village Voice, the film critic for the Los Angeles Times, and the editor of the film section at LA Weekly. She has written for a variety of publications, including Film Comment and Sight and Sound.

Dargis grew up in Manhattan's East Village, and is a 1979 graduate of Hunter College High School.

Following her negative review of the first Garfield movie, the second movie, Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties, has the main villain named Lord Dargis.
