Manningtree railway station

Manningtree railway station serves the town of Manningtree in Essex, England. Services are provided by 'one'. The station is on the Great Eastern Main Line between London and Norwich and is the only station on the main line between Colchester and Ipswich. Manningtree is a junction station for the important branch to Harwich, known as the Mayflower Line. Branch services normally work between Manningtree and Harwich although there are some through services to and from London. Boat trains also work through to and from the branch to connect with sailings.

Immediately east of the station there is a triangle of junctions, known as Manningtree South, North and East junctions. The main line and the branch connection from London are double track, but the north to east curve connecting Ipswich with Harwich is single track. All three sides of the triangle are electrified.

A second interesting feature just east of the station is a combination of a road underpass and a level crossing. The underpass has limited height and the parallel level crossing is needed to permit higher vehicles to cross the railway.
