Manitoba Marijuana Party
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Manitoba Marijuana Party (MMP) is a provincial political party in Manitoba, Canada. The party is the successor to the Libertarian Party of Manitoba (LPM), which was registered in the mid-1980s. The current MMP leader is Chris Buors, a cannabis activist in Canada. Buors is also the party's president.
The party officially changed its name from the LPM to the MMP in February 2005, on the advice and with the support of prominent cannabis activist Marc Emery. It supports the full legalization of drugs, and has also called for the restriction of state powers on other issues. It is not clear how many LPM supporters remain active in the MMP.
The party's website is not operational as of October 2005.
The party is listed as a registered political party by Elections Manitoba]. [1]
