Manilla is a small town in New South Wales, Australia, located 45 kilometres from the regional city of Tamworth. Manilla is famous for its setting as fishing and paragliding area.

Manilla comes from the Gamilaraay language, and is said to mean meeting of the rivers.

Manilla was established in the 1870s at the junction of the Namoi River and the Manilla River. The population of Manilla is 2,033. It was formerly the centre of Manilla Shire Local Government Area, but this was absorbed into Tamworth Regional Council in 2004.

Manilla is also well known for Split Rock Dam built from 1985-1988. It is also famous worldwide as a paragliding and other air sport center.

On the 16th of February 2007, Manilla hit the news in Australia when a 35 year old female paraglider from Germany was paragliding when a storm hit. The women lost consciousness and soared 9,940m (32,612 feet) above sea level. This height is taller than world's tallest peak, Mount Everest at 8,850m (29,035 feet) above sea level. The women survived, with only a few injuries.[1]
