Maniac Mansion (band)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Maniac Mansion is a seminal Nintendo-punk band from Lafayette, Louisiana. Their style lies somewhere between Nintendo music, 80's Hardcore punk, and Techno. Stephen Breaux (synths/guitar) and Jon Clark (synths/drums) met at a drum clinic in 1999. Two months later they recorded their first Nintendo-Punk album "Serve It Up on a Dish" under the name High Gear. A recording under the name Manchild was released as the self-titled Manchild 7". In 2004, Maniac Mansion toured the east and west coasts, culminating in a two-night stand at New York's prestigious Knitting Factory venue. Maniac Mansion further staked their place in cult notoriety when their "Pizza Time Theatre" music video, directed by band member Jon Clark, screened at the TromaDance festival, a cult film festival organized by Troma Films as a spoof of the self-serious Sundance Film Festival. That music video is collected on the "Best of TromaDance 5" DVD. Maniac Mansion broke up after the release of their full-length CD "Pizza Time Theatre".
