From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MANGO is a prestigious multinational company dedicated to the design, manufacture and marketing of clothing and accessories for women.

The Spanish company closed the financial year 2005 with a turnover of 1.144 billion euros. This represents an increase in turnover of 8.4% compared to the previous year. As a result of the brand’s increasing international presence, 75% of turnover corresponded to foreign markets and the remaining 25% to the domestic market.

Currently, MANGO has more than 960 stores in 84 countries located on the five continents. Its expansion is continuing with the brand’s entry into countries such as the United States, China, Italy and Australia. Among the latest international openings there were prestigious cities such as London (Regent St. and Oxford St.), [[Vienna] (Kärntnerstr.), Paris (Rue Rennes and Rue de Rivoli) and Los Angeles.

In addition to this, MANGO has an online store, Mangoshop.com, which is a platform for marketing its full range of products within the European Union and in other European countries that do not form part of the Union, such as Andorra, Norway and Switzerland. The online store was opened in September 2000 and since then has enjoyed excellent growth, to the point that it now receives an average of 4,500 orders per month. Within virtual trading, MANGO’s expansion has focused on opening a store for the North American market, Mngshop.com, in March 2006 and an outlet store for the European market, Mangooutlet.com.

All of the brand’s stores are located in prime positions, whether in main shopping centres or in premises located in city centres. Stores are of a sufficient size to display all of the collections. In this way, the criteria for interior design, image and product display that MANGO has established can be maintained, in order to create a pleasant atmosphere that offers customers an enjoyable shopping experience.

The central offices occupy a total surface area of 150,000m2 and house the company’s own structure, made up of the areas of design, production control, store distribution, store architecture and interior design, image and advertising as well as administration and logistics.

MANGO has over 5,800 employees, 1,500 of whom work at the company’s central offices in Palau-Solità i Plegamans (Barcelona). Beyond the statistics, there is a young and enthusiastic team with an average age of 30 and which is 82% female.

MANGO bases its logistics on an in-house system which has been progressively developed since the opening of its first store in 1984 to the present, through acquiring the latest technologies and adapting them to its facilities. This allows it to classify and distribute 30,000 garments an hour. Currently, MANGO is the second biggest export company in the Spanish textile sector.

[edit] Franchise system

In order to develop a truly integrated infrastructure, MANGO supplies its franchisers on a sale or return basis. The objective of this is to ensure that all its sales outlets, located throughout the world, have the goods they require in accordance with rotation speeds and sales forecasts. In this way, MANGO is able to guarantee that goods are constantly renewed and that production keeps up with the pace of market demand, in terms of volume and variety.
