This discography is based on the primary album releases of rock group Manfred Mann's Earth Band since their debut album in 1972.

1972 Manfred Mann's Earth Band - 138 The debut album. Features Manfred Mann on his trademark Mini Moog for the first time. Includes the Bob Dylan cover "Please Mrs Henry" and the minor US hit "Living Without You", written by Randy Newman.
1972 Glorified Magnified - - Follow-up to the debut album. First album to feature the Earth Band logo on the cover. Includes the Bob Dylan cover "It's All Over Now Baby Blue".
1973 Messin' - 196 The third album. First released on the Vertigo label in the UK. Released in the US on the Polydor label in a slightly different form with the title Get Your Rocks Off.
1973 Solar Fire - 96 First to be issued on the Bronze label. Features the hit single "Joybringer" (based on Gustav Holst]'s "Jupiter" from the Planets Suite) and the epic re-working of Bob Dylan's "Father Of Day, Father Of Night".
1974 The Good Earth - 157 The album with which buyers got a free square foot of land on a Welsh hillside!
1975 Nightingales And Bombers - 120 Last album by the original line-up. Includes a famous recording from World War II of nightingales singing as bombers fly overhead. Also includes the first Bruce Springsteen cover, "Spirits In The Night".
1976 The Roaring Silence 10 10 First album with the new line-up: Chris Thompson (vocals, guitar) and Dave Flett (lead guitar) replacing Mick Rogers (guitar, vocals). Includes the international hit "Blinded By The Light", a re-working of the Bruce Springsteen song.
1978 Watch 33 83 Features a re-working of Manfred Mann's 1968 hit "The Mighty Quinn" written by Bob Dylan. Another new line-up: Pat King replacing original member Colin Pattenden (bass).
1979 Angel Station 30 144 Features Bob Dylan's "You Angel You" and Mike Heron's Don't Kill It Carol". Geoff Britton replaces Chris Slade on drums leaving Manfred Mann as the only original member. Steve Waller also takes over lead guitar duties from Dave Flett.
1980 Chance - 87 Features another Springsteen cover "For You". John Lingwood, who toured with the band on the Angel Station tour, takes over on drums from Geoff Britton.
1983 Somewhere In Afrika 87 40 The first Earth Band album to feature African singers and chants. Includes a version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" and Sting's "Demolition Man".
1984 Budapest Live - - Recorded live April 6/7 1983 at the Budapest Sports Arena on the Somewhere in Europe tour. Features live versions of the band's greatest hits including "Spirits In The Night" and "Mighty Quinn".
1986 Criminal Tango - - Credited as 'Manfred Mann's Earth Band with Chris Thompson'. Notable for covers of Joni Mitchell's "Banquet", and Eddie & The Hot Rods' "Do Anything You Wanna To Do". Marked the return of Mick Rogers on guitar, and the first album to feature Steve Kinch on bass.
1987 Masque - - The album is subtitled Songs And Planets and features some parts of Gustav Holst's Planets Suite. The album represents the completed version of a project originally planned for 1973's Solar Fire.
1991 Plains Music - - Credited as 'Manfred Mann's Plains Music'. The majority of the tracks on this album are based around the melodies of the North American Plains Indians, hence the title. The first album to feature Noel McCalla on vocals.
