[edit] Character History

Mandy arrived as a naive schoolgirl and the underage temptress of Ollie Benson who dreamt of becoming a supermodel. However, her world was turned upside down when it was revealed that her father Dennis had sexually and physically abused her. Thanks to the support of her older brother, Lewis (Ben Hull), Mandy found the strength to take a stand against her father and he was sentenced to seven years in prison.

Mandy’s life slowly returned to normal and she got together with heartthrob Luke Morgan but Tragady struck the relationship when Luke was a victim of a vicious sex attackby Mark Gibbs and Luke couldn't face telling her what had happend. After finishing with Luke, Mandy briefly found solace in Darren Osborne which didn't last long. Mandy then began a relationship with Ben Davies, Luke's best friend. However the two split when Ben accused Mandy of being controlling. While Mandy and Ben were together, Luke realised he still loved Mndy and longed for a second chance. Upon finding out that Luke had been raped, Mandy offered him her support and she helped him get over his ordeal.

Meanwhile Mandy's mother Helen married Gordon Cunningham and On New Years Eve 1999, Mandy delivered her half-brother Tom when her Helen went into labour while giving Mandy a driving lesson. Her life was turned upside down again when Lewis, committed suicide after getting into debt. This drove a wedge between Mandy and her mother, Helen, and she started to use her new friend Laura Burns, as a confidante, continually oblivious to Laura’s, at times, odd behaviour. Mandy soon started rebuilding her relationship with her mother, whist Mandy’s soul mate Luke had moved to Canada.

On New Year’s 2001, Mandy ended up having a one nightstand with Jamie Nash at the Morgan’s house. Luke's brother Adam had enough of Mandy’s behaviour to his family and sat in her car, refusing to move. Mandy drove in a fast speed, and she lost control of the car, as the car ended up falling of a cliff and landing near a railway. Mandy survived, with a few cuts and bruises, whist Adam was told he would never walk again.

Mandy started dating barman Toby Mills, but that lasted a short while because of Toby dumping her. Mandy was low again, but than started to have a secret relationship with Adam. However, sparks flied when Luke arrived back in Hollyoaks. Mandy ended up sleeping with Luke, but Luke and Adam were both devastated to hear that Mandy was double-crossing the pair. Mandy was dumped by Adam and Luke did not want to know her.

Mandy turned to the support of her friend Laura, who wanted to get away from Hollyoaks and decided to go Cape Town. She asked Mandy to come with her but Mandy felt suspicious and Laura then shocked Mandy by trying to kiss her. Mandy told Laura to leave, but instead Laura reacted by hitting her on the head with a glass bottle. Laura continued to taunt Mandy as she locked Mandy and herself in Mandy’s flat until and attempted to poison Mandy, but fortunately Mandy was rescued by her step brother Max Cunninham, Tony Hutchinson, Becca Hayton, Adam Morgan, and Laura's brother Brendan Shepard. Mandy was taken to Hospital whislt Laura was then taken to a mental institute. Mandy later found out that Laura’s real name was Kerry Shepard, and Laura was taken from her best friend’s name who had died tragically at the age of 11. Kerry was still recovering from that, and since then, Kerry found Mandy as a replacement to Laura and had more feeling for Mandy than a friend and had tried to keep Mandy to herself.

In 2003, more misery continued on in Mandy's world as she disscovered her mother Helen was having and affair with Tony and her father Dennis was being realised from prison. Fearing the worse, Mandy was scared of the consequences of facing her father and to make matters uneven her mother had not been much supportive after Mandy discovered that Helen had been writing to her father during the time he was in prison. After his release, Mandy confronted Dennis and refused to forgive him. She went out and brought him some alcohol to quicken his death, telling him she could never forgive him and he eventualy died of liver damage, which left Mandy sinking his ashes in the drain.

Slowly Mandy began to rebuild her life but she had to deal with step brother Max’s crazy crush on her. Things began to get too much for Mandy as she turned to Tony Hutchinson (whom promised her late brother Lewis he'd look after Mandy) for support and bizarrely the pair ended up together as they became Hollyoaks’s most unlikely couple. However, the relationship faced many tests along the way as Tony cheated on Mandy by sleeping with Ruth Osborne and Mandy also cheated on Tony by rekindling a one night stand with Ben Davies.

However, more departures happened in Mandy’s life as both her step dad Gordon and mother Helen died in a car crash. This left Mandy devastated and with Max, the pair grieved on. She had now the responsibly of taking care of the businesses and the care of her young step brother Tom after Mandy gained guardianship of him, although she didn't want the responsibility of looking after him and Max took him.

Mandy’s world was turned upside down after a miscarriage and Mandy started to hit Tony and she became violent towards him. She often abused Tony until it got out of hand and Tony hit her back. The neighbours heard the fight and called the police, who assumed Tony was the one abusing Mandy. The village soon turned against Tony but Mandy came clean that it was infact her who was abusing Tony. This led to Mandy seeking counselling help and Mandy finally realised that Tony was the one she had wanted and followed him to Rome, where she tried to convince him that she still loves him. The pair ended up in each others arms and got married in Rome.

On returning to Hollyoaks, Mandy’s life didn’t seem to cut down on the drama as she fell pregnant. After having mix feeling about whether to have a child, both Mandy and Tony decided to have the child and Mandy gave birth to baby Grace. After weeks on enabling to create a bond with her child, Mandy eventually bonded with her baby. However, the happy ending wasn’t to last. Baby Grace had died through cot death after teenagers Nancy Hayton and Hannah Ashworth were babysitting her (though neither were responsible for her death as it was SIDS).

Mandy was distraught and unable to talk to Tony about her daughter’s death, Mandy turned to his brother Dominic Reilly and after sharing a brief kiss, Dominic made it clear that there was no future between hem as he was unwilling to betray his brother. After one last emotional goodbye to husband Tony, Mandy told him that she could no longer live in Hollyoaks after so many bad memories and needed a fresh start. With Tony understanding Mandy’s position, he decided to let go.

Mandy returned briefly for the funeral of Becca Dean. She told Tony that she was pregnant and in a serious relationship with a mysterious character known only as Mark.
