Mandokhel (Urdu: مندو خیل ) is a Pashtun tribe settled in Pakistan.
Mandokhels are settled in the Zhob district of Balochistan Province. Some of them are also settled in south Afghanistan. The Zhob district was renamed Fort sandeman in 1892 prior to this, the town was called Apozai, a village of Mandokhels.Apozai was only the name of the town not that of the whole disrtict as it is presumed. The district was named Zhob and this is mentioned in books of 17th centuries. All British writters such as Elphinstone ,Raverty and even Gazzeteere of Zhob of 1906 refer to it as Zhob. Mandokhels belong to the Ghurghasht branch of Afghans. Some geneologists wrongly include Mandokhels in Panis,an other group of Afghans which they definitely are not. They live on both sides of Zhob river. They are highly educated and well-off people compared to other tribes of the areas. They have agricultural lands on both sides of zhob river that is why they remained in agricultural pursuit for centuries. They are mentioned in Colonalian history by Honourable Elphinstone in his "kingdom of caubul " in 1909.After that, many British writers such as Dr.Bellew and Major Raverty have extensivly written on them.Gazzeteer of District Zhob gives a great detail of Mandokhail. Mandokhels have actively participated in pakstani politics. So for ther have been three senators one MPA and one federal minister from mandokhels.
