[edit] Athletics
The Manatee Hurricanes, headed by coach Joe Kinnan, have enjoyed modest success in their football program since the 1980s and early '90s, when the Hurricanes won four state championships. Howie DeCristafaro had a short, four year stint as the Hurricanes head football coach, leaving the 'Canes with a 4-5 record in his final season, missing the playoffs.
