Man Chong

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Man Chong (滿寵) (? – 242), courtesy name Boning (伯寧), was an officer of Cao Cao and later of the Kingdom of Wei.

Originally a scholar from Shanyang, he became a strategist for Cao Cao, recruiting Xu Huang to the Wei cause. He became governor of Ru'nan, and helped Cao Ren defend Fancheng (present day a district of Xiangfan, Hubei) against Guan Yu in 219. In 228, Man Chong assisted the army of Jia Kui in an unsuccessful invasion of the Wu Kingdom. During the Wu invasion of 234, Man Chong accompanied the army of Cao Rui to repel the enemy at Hefei, and devised a night attack that scattered the Wu forces under Lu Xun.
