[edit] Plot

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

The gang takes Speedy to the veterinarian, and Drew learns that Speedy's hip problem is continuing to get worse. The vet reveals to Drew that there is an operation that can fix Speedy's hip. However, the cost of the operation is $2,700, making Drew vow to find a way to get the money to help Speedy. As Oswald, Kate, and Lewis wait in the waiting room, Lewis flirts with a woman with a monkey. The monkey ends up unzipping his pants as they talk. When Drew comes out of the office to use the bathroom, the monkey helps him also to unzip his pants. At Winfred-Louder, Kate brings in her pet ferret, but it escaped from its cage. Nora learns about Speedy's need for surgery and advises Drew to use his insurance with Winfred-Louder to pay for the dog's surgery. Nora has discovered a loophole that will help Speedy in the store's insurance program: Winfred-Louder has same-sex health benefits. She recommends that Drew claim that he wants an operation for his lover. Nora assures him that she is the only one who would see the form so he would not face any ridicule. Drew agrees and claims he needs the money for his lover, Aaron. Drew ends up getting the money to pay for Speedy's successful operation. Unfortunately, Drew's claim comes up on Nora's day off, and the board of directors do not believe that Drew is gay. They insist that they must meet with Drew and Aaron. Back in his cubicle, Drew is interviewing a woman who is flirting with him. He discovers that Mimi has planted her in his cubicle to check and see if he is really gay. Mimi then also sends in an attractive man, much to Drew's dismay. Drew convinces Oswald to pose as his boyfriend so that he does not get in trouble with the board. The "couple" fails miserably when quizzed separately about each other's likes and dislikes (other than beer and pizza), but their subsequent bickering convinces Mrs. Louder that they are together after all. Mr. Wick suggests to the rest of the board that Drew and Oswald should be used to promote Winfred-Louder at gay events throughout Ohio. Once he hears this, Drew comes clean, as he feels it would be wrong to act as a gay role model when he isn't really gay. Mrs. Louder accepts his explanation for the fraud and suspends his health benefits until he pays off Speedy's claim. At the end of the episode, the gang enjoys as Speedy runs around without a hip brace.
