I do not see the point of linking birth and death dates, or even giving them, of minor figures who do not have articles. The links are intended to produce lists by day & year of the birth & death of people who have WP articles, and serve no purpose otherwise. Adding additional people to these lists who do not have articles just increases these already almost unmanageably long categories, without adding to the utility of the article. They also decrease the readability of the article. I can see some purposes--disambiguation, as in the many Longs--but then the date is enough without the link. If they have an article, that one will have the link. Historical--in a general article it helps to see immediate which kings lived in which century. But in 20th c. politics, the surrounding date are clear enough. I think they're survivals from academic writing. They possibly have a place there, but not fora general readership. In adapting text previously intended for academic purposes, it does take a little time to remove them. But its worth it in clarity. DGG 03:58, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
